HPU Athletics History

1978 – Hawai‘i Pacific College begins intercollegiate sports program with men’s basketball
1979 – Hawai‘i Pacific College joins the NAIA
1980 – Volleyball & Softball are added
1981 – Baseball & Golf are added
1982 – Women’s Basketball is added
1983 – Men’s & Women’s Cross Country is added
1984 – Men’s & Women’s Tennis is added
            *Women’s Basketball is dropped 
1987 – Men’s Soccer & Water Polo is added
            *Water Polo is dropped
            *Golf is dropped
1992 – Swimming is added
            *Swimming is dropped
1993 – Hawaii Pacific College & Hawaii Loa College merge to form Hawaii Pacific University
1999 – Women’s Soccer is added
2001 – Men’s & Women’s Soccer is dropped
2004 – Men’s & Women’s Golf is re-added
2006 – Women’s Golf is dropped
2007 – Women’s Basketball, Men’s & Women’s Soccer re-added
2012 – Women’s Golf re-added
2013 – Acrobatics & Tumbling added
